How to drink in Moderation with Hypnosis

Only a small percentage of the population that drinks alcohol ever develops an addiction to it. In fact, many studies have shown that drinking in moderation is healthy. While everyone is different, 2 drinks per day for an adult male is considered healthy.  This is due in part to its positive mood-altering benefits. There are some people, however, who at times use alcohol as a crutch but are not alcoholics. They might use alcohol as a way to numb feelings of stress or anxiety. Hypnosis to drink in moderation can help people who want to stop using alcohol as a crutch.

Moderate Mindful Drinking

Social situations can trigger people to consume more alcohol than is healthy. Some people become anxious when they find themselves in networking events or talking to members of the opposite sex. Other people use alcohol to wind down after a long stressful day. While having a few drinks is fine and can help improve your mood, more than that can be a sign that alcohol is being used inappropriately. Using alcohol in this way is the same as filling your gas tank with gas when the oil light goes on. In the same way that gasoline cannot fix an oil issue, alcohol cannot fix your stress or anxiety.

Mindful drinking includes eating and drinking water in between drinks to decrease the amount of alcohol your body absorbs. Pacing yourself by limiting yourself to 1 drink per hour is also helpful. It is also helpful to think about, and avoid, the people or places that tend to trigger the overconsumption of alcohol. Finally, knowing what your limit is, and sticking to, it is essential.

Hypnotherapy to drink in moderation

When most people think about hypnosis they think about subjects be made to do something silly. They assume that they will lose control and be put to sleep with no memory of what happens. This could not be further from the truth. In the trance state clients are aware of their surroundings and can remember the experience. In fact, daydreaming and losing track of time while working on a project are 2 examples of the hypnotic state that everyone has experienced.

Hypnosis has been used for ages for many different challenges. It can be used to help people lose weight and quit smoking. While in a trance state the client can be directed to uncover the experience that triggered the use of alcohol as a crutch. The event can then be reframed so that the unconscious mind no longer responds to stress or anxiety with alcohol. This along with programming of the unconscious mind helps clients drink in moderation and mindfully.

Almost everyone wants to drink moderately and mindfully. Aside from the health benefits, we also want to remain in control of what we do and consume. For those of us who want to drink in moderation but find it difficult to, hypnosis can be an excellent tool.
